This workshop will explore how standing poses- like warrior I and II and tree pose- relate to the movement of walking and how practicing them can strengthen your gait.
This workshop is beneficial for anyone wanting more strength, confidence, and ease in walking! It is especially designed for people with neuromuscular challenges as the result of PD or stroke.

I initially developed this approach to standing poses for myself while rehabbing from serious ankle and foot surgery. I have taken this approach into my work over the last few years with people with PD and people recovering from stoke. Sharing this approach has deepened my appreciation for how yoga asana can deepen our body intelligence and help us to regain and maintain our physical abilities.

Each session will include a floor warm up and a sequence of standing poses. I will teach briefly about anatomy and the bio-mechanics of walking. We will spend time discussing alignment and answering individual questions. I will also give movement practices for homework between the 2 sessions.

This workshop will be limited to 8 participants so I can really personalize the teaching and better see each participant over Zoom.

My teaching will assume some yoga experience.
